San Francisco ...
DC is expected to get 19 inches of snow again. My flight to SF is at 8am. When I arrived at the Ronald Reagan Airport, there was already a huge line. Since DC is expected to have a major snow storm, everybody is trying to fly out of DC. Due to the long security line, I arrived at the gate 10 min before the departure time but the gate had already closed. I was so pissed. They put me on the next flight (standby). I was on number 25. The next flight was full. After 4 standby flights, I was finally checked in. As soon as it begins to snow, my flight took off. It was the last flight flying out of DC. Close call. It took me 12 hours to get to SF. What a day. When I arrived, it was already dinner time.
The next morning, we had dim sum for breakfast. Shortly, we were heading south on Highway 1. We stopped by at this awesome place called the Mysterious Spot at Santa Cruz. It’s a place where the laws of physics don’t apply. Sometimes you look taller, sometimes you look shorter. You can lean your body 30 degrees forward or backwards without falling. It was an awesome experience. After playing around in awe like a bunch of kids, we headed to Monterey and Carmel 17 mile drive. I was actually pretty disappointed with this Scenic Byway. It’s pretty but it’s nothing I haven’t seen before. After that we headed a bit further south to Big Sur. Big Sur is a sparsely populated region of the central California coast where the Santa Lucia Mountains rise abruptly from the Pacific Ocean. The terrain offers stunning views, making Big Sur a popular tourist destination. I have always wanted to go there after I saw Mike Better on the Weather Channel talking about the weather on Big Sur. Shortly after we passed the Bixby Creek Bridge, we turned around and had dinner at Monterey. It was an awesome day.
The next morning, we drove north to Sausalito. It is located at the north end of the Golden Gate Bridge. It offers a gorgeous view of the city, making it a popular tourist destination. My flight back to DC is delayed until the next morning. This is my second visit to SF and I’m still loving it. I hope someday I will be able to call it – HOME.
