Day 6: Four Corners, Petrified Forest, Flagstaff

We woke up really early. After a long debate, we decided to go to the Four Corners. Unfortunately we took the wrong way. Ended up in a 1 hr detour. But it was worth it. Utah was beautiful. Saw the Mexican Hat, a snow mountain, oil rig, and we were in the middle of no where!!! Finally we got to the four corners. I had fried bread there. It wasn't cheap. $3 dollars. Then we were heading south. Dave was speeding and got pulled over by a cop. We got a ticket. damn.!!!!

Oh well, that kind of spoiled our mood a little bit. Then we arrived at the Hubell Trading Post. I was kind of disappointed with it. Everything there was so expensive and the shop was pretty small. Oh well. Finally, it was my turn to drive. And of course, I took the wrong road again. It was another 1 hr detour. After another 2 hr drive, we finally arrived at the Petrified Wood National Park. It was gorgeous.

After that, we went to Jim Gray's Petrified Wood. We used the coupon that we printed to claim our free 1 lb petrified wood. It turned out to be only 2 stones. Oh well. We didn't have time to hang out there because the store close at 6.30 and we got there at 6.15. Anyway, i bought a petrified wood stone. We were at this town called Holbrook. People decorate their shops with dinasour ballonsand painting. Maybe the town is famous for dinasour fossil. Anyway, it was getting dark quick. We were speeding to the Meteor Crater. Hoping to catch a glimpse of it. It was really dark. We finally got there. The gate was closed. I was pissed. Oh well. Then we drove to Flagstaff. We were supposed to stay with a girl that Dave meet at the couchsurfing website. Anyway, we meet her. For some reason we didn;t think it will work out. Anyway, we drove up the hill to Lowell Observatory. we saw saturn there. It was so pretty!!!

Later we were tired and hungry. Everything was pretty much closed. Finally we found Pita Pit. People in Flagstaff were really friendly. There was this restaurant that we went. When we got it, they told us that the kitchen is closed. So we left. Moments later this guy dashed out and was like "Sorry Guys!". We were like ... errr.. it's OK....:-)

OK. Finally we ate. But now we need to find a place to stay. After hotel hunting for like 10min, we saw this Indian own motel. It was like $60. We decided to give it a try. It was pretty cheesy but it was fun. The heater looked like it was gonna fall apart but it worked just fine. The tv remote was partially burnt off. The best feature about the room was the shower!!! Man, the water pressure was the best!!! It was pretty noise though because the hotel is located rigth across from the Santa Fe railroad. But I guess it was a part of the Flagstaff experience :-)
It was a long long day. We drove from 8 am till 10 pm. Saw a lot. It was fun :-)
